Dear Parents and Carers
“Life is a time for making decisive, eternal choices. Trivial choices lead to a trivial life; great choices to a life of greatness.” Pope Francis
St Simon’s Has Got Talent
On Thursday we held the first part of our St Simon’s Has Got Talent competition. The children had been auditioning over the last two weeks and this week our judges selected four acts to take part in our finals. Congratulations to all who took part and bravely displayed their talents in front of the school and parents. The judges chose Sarani, Kiara and Lexie, Lily and Kacsper and Annie who will take part in the Grand Final of the competition.
This week the children have been taking part in Sports Week and have had the opportunity to take part in a lot of competition over the week. Our Sports Week ended today with our annual Sports Day which for the first time in nearly three years we were able to have parents and carers in to support the children.
There were a few bumps and bruises sustained and some tears shed (especially during the parent’s races) but I am sure all recovered very quickly and a great time was had by all.
Many thanks to Mr Hunt and our parent volunteers who helped organise the event we couldn’t have done it without you!
It was good to see so many parents and carers joining the children for a picnic on our school field. We as a school are extremely lucky to have such large grounds that can be used for such events.
The Summer Fair was a great success. It never ceases to amaze me how generous you as parents and carers are with supporting the children with their fund raising.
This event would not be possible without the hard work of the volunteers who help to prepare and run the stalls alongside the staff and children. A great big thank you to everyone for supporting the children.
I will share with you the final total raised next week but well done to everyone a great example of team work at St Simon’s.
Oliwia Year 5
Congratulations to Oliwia in Year 5 as she has been given a contract with Charlton Athletic Football Club. We are very proud of Oliwia’s achievements. Well done Oliwia.
Year 6 off to PGL
Next weekend Year 6 are off on a residential visit to PGL Marchants Hill in Surrey. They will be participating in lots of adventurous activities and no doubt will thoroughly enjoy themselves. Please say a few prayers for the weather to be kind to us.
Mass for St Peter and St Paul
The children will be attending Mass for the Feast of the two great saints St Peter and St Paul on Wednesday 29th June at 9:30a.m. Parents and Carers are always welcome to join us.
New Intake Meeting
On Wednesday 29th June at 6:00p.m we are holding a meeting for the parents of our new reception class for September 2022. I find it very hard to believe that are current reception class will soon be moving up to Year 1 it doesn’t feel that long ago that they were just starting with us.
Open Afternoon and Reports
On Friday 8th July you should receive your child’s final report of the school year. The report is really only a snapshot of how well your child has progressed this year. To give you the opportunity to view your child’s work and visit your child’s new class teacher we are holding an “Open Afternoon” from 3:30-4:30 on Wednesday 13th July. Please note that there are no formal timed appointments arranged on this evening.
With best wishes
