Dear Parents and Carers
Advent is the time to prepare to celebrate Jesus’ birth –
God’s arrival into our world in the person of Jesus.
This week has been extremely busy as we welcomed an OFSTED inspection team into the school. Many thanks to everyone who completed the OFSTED parental survey as your views of the school are taken very seriously and mean a great deal to us.
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to share how the inspection went until the report is officially published and we will make sure that all parents will receive a copy of this.
Advent Liturgy
Many thanks to the pupils who planned and led our Advent Liturgy on Thursday 1st December. The children did an amazing job delivering this to the rest of the school. Many thanks children you are St Simon’s Stars.
Rescheduled Year 2 Parent Evening
Unfortunately, due to OFSTED we had to reschedule the rescheduled parent evening for Year 2 as Mrs Hyczko had to take part in the inspection. We are now holding this on Thursday 8th December and original appointment times will remain. Hopefully everyone can still make their appointment.
If you need a reminder of your appointment time or cannot make your appointment please contact the school office.
Nativity Performances
We have two planned performances for our Reception and Key Stage 1 Nativity. Wednesday 7th December at 9:30a.m and Thursday 8th December at 2:00p.m.
This year we are not planning to operate a ticket system but ask parents to appreciate that due to fire regulations we can only fit a certain number of people in our school hall so can parents and carers be sensible when turning up to watch.
Christmas Fayre
Preparations are well underway for our Christmas Fayre on Friday 9th December at 2:00p.m.
Like last year we are hoping to run this outdoors as this helped make the Fayre feel really festive. This will obviously be dependent on the weather.
We always rely on help from parents and carers to help with the preparations leading up to the fayre and on the day so if you feel you can help please let the office know or speak to me on the school gate.
We are asking for donations of cakes on the day of the fayre for our cakes/refreshments stall so all donations will be greatly appreciated.
Please note that children need to be accompanied by a parent or carer if they wish to attend the Christmas Fayre so please turn up at 2:00p.m to take your child to the Fayre.
School Mural
The school mural painted by Artist Rob Turner is now completed and we all need to acknowledge the terrific work that Rob has done. He has really captured the children’s ideas and reproduced these so that we will be able to enjoy them for years to come.
Rob has really exceeded all our expectations and has gone way beyond what we had originally planned and asked him to do.
A great big thank you to Rob for all that he has done for us.
With best wishes
Peter McCabe
