Dear Parents and Carers
“Prepare a path for God so that he can enter your heart.” St John Baptist De La Salle
This week the children in our Liturgy Committee led the school in our Advent Liturgy. They helped us to reflect on the importance of the season and the need to prepare ourselves spiritually for the coming of Christmas. Well done children.
Next week is going to be very busy as we have our Nativity performances on Tuesday 7th December at 2:00p.m and on Thursday 9th December at 9:30a.m. These events have to be by ticket only to keep adult numbers down otherwise the event can not take place.
Every child has been issued with one ticket for each performance if anyone has a ticket which they know they are not going to use could this be returned to the school so that we can redistribute these in a fair way to be people who have expressed an interest.
Due to the rising infection rates in the local area all adults attending the Nativity are asked to wear a face covering unless they are medically exempt.
With the increase in infection rates in the district we are constantly reviewing our risk assessments with regard to planned activities, we will not cancel activities unless we feel the risk levels become too high. With this in mind we have taken the decision to cancel the Carol Singing in County Square on Thursday 9th December and the Carol Service on Thursday 16th December.
Key Stage 2 Children will now sing Carols on the playground on Thursday 16th December from 2:50p.m (Weather permitting) we will open the gate early so parents can join us.
Plans are well underway for our school Christmas Fair on Friday 10th February. We are planning on holding this event outside so please say a prayer for good weather although Father Christmas doesn’t feel the cold coming all the way from the North Pole.
Many thanks for all the donations on the non-uniform days which go towards our fair. If anyone would like to donate a prize for our Christmas Raffle this would be greatly appreciated.
Some of our parents and carers in Key Stage 1 and lower Key Stage 2 have asked for a list of pupil names for classes to help with the writing of Christmas cards. We will send a list of first names only to anyone who requests this so we are GDPR compliant. If anyone objects to their child’s first name being given out in a list to other parents we will remove the name from the list.
Online safety: With Christmas just around the corner I thought I would provide a little reminder about setting up parental controls on any new phones, consoles or games the children might receive from Father Christmas.
Please check out our online safety newsletter or parental controls booklet which can be found here: https://www.st-simon.kent.sch.uk/useful-information/
If you are reading this newsletter you will have noticed our new look website. I do hope you like the new look. There is further work to do on our new site which should make it easier to find information about the school.
With best wishes
