Great Start to the New Academic Year

Dear Parents and Carers

It is great to welcome everyone back to school. The children have all come back into school in a really positive way and have been enjoying meeting up with their friends and classmates.

When I walk around the school there is now the real buzz of activity and a greater feeling of normality about the place as the children in all classes have got back down to work. However, none of us can help but notice that things are not completely back to normal we still have strict social distancing measures in place to keep everyone safe.

Many thanks to everyone for following our new procedures for dropping children off and picking children up at the end of the day. These seem to be working very well which shows that all are complying with the new routines.

I would like to draw parents and carers attention to two documents on our website- our plan for reopening and our COVID 19 Home School Agreement which give full details of everything that we have had to put into place:

Part of our COVID-19 Home School Agreement clearly states:

“Insure that only one parent or carer will drop off or pick up and that there will be no alternative arrangements for pick up between families and carers.”

To support our working parents and carers we are prepared to be flexible on this and will allow prearranged alternative pick-ups between families for “genuine” reasons at the headteacher’s discretion. We may have to ask for details of those people picking up for the purpose of “tracking and tracing”.

Our school office remains closed at present and we are still not holding any face to face meetings. If you need to contact the school this can be done either by telephone or via my email

Our main method of communication with parents will be via the school website either by posting messages on the scrolling banner on the Home Page or by adding items to the Latest News Page. Class teachers will also post information on the children’s class pages.

The class teachers will provide opportunities for Homework/Home learning each week on the children’s class page and a Homework book will be sent home containing the children’s logins so that they can access school learning platforms. They will also have a copy of their Chilli Challenge homework for this term. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any homework books for marking at this time as we are trying to restrict the spread of any infection from home to school and from school to home. This is also the reason why we do not want any school bags pencil case etc. brought in from home.

Any inquiries or questions regarding home learning please contact the school at:

Unfortunately, this year we cannot hold our usual “Meet and Greets” in which you have the opportunity to meet your child’s new teacher and receive information on the class curriculum etc.  so next week we will place a presentation on each class page which will cover all the Key points of information that parents and carers need to know at the beginning of this academic year.

Can I take this opportunity to express that we all have a collective responsibility to follow all government guidance in respect of preventing the spread of the virus.

With best wishes

Peter McCabe headteacher
