Weekly News 11th November 2022
Dear Parents and Carers
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them."
Today Year 5 led us in our act of remembrance when we reflected and prayed for all who have lost their lives due to war and conflict. At the same time, we prayed for peace in our very troubled world. This was a very moving liturgy and I must congratulate Year 5 for leading us in this.
Well done Year 5.
It was good to welcome parents and carers to our parent evenings this week so that they could discuss the children’s progress to date.
There is a lot of illness in the school at the moment and some parents couldn’t attend some of the appointments booked due to this.
Unfortunately, we had to postpone the Year 2 parent evening on Thursday as Mrs Hyczko is ill. We will rearrange this for when Mrs Hyczko is fully recovered.
If you weren’t able to attend an appointment due to illness etc. please don’t hesitate to contact the school office to reschedule.
Sponsored Walk/Explosion of Colour
This event was a great success. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend as I had another commitment but everyone has informed me that the children thoroughly enjoyed taking part.
I must congratulate the children on their fundraising and our School Council for arranging the event. All money raised will go to School Council Funds which the children themselves decide on how they are going to use the funds.
On Thursday 17th November we are holding a non-school uniform day in return for a donation of Stationary Sets that will make up presents for Father Christmas’ sack at our Christmas Fayre.
Children in Need
Friday 18th November is Children in Need and the children are allowed to come to school in their own clothes in return for a donation to the charity.
Year 6 Class Mass
On Wednesday 16th November at 9:30a.m. Fr Hans will be celebrating Mass with our Year 6 pupils in their classroom. Parents and carers are very welcome to join the children.
Times Tables Rockstars
The children are invited to take part in a national competition “England Rocks” on Times Tables Rock Stars. The competition is for schools across the whole of England and will run from 14th until the 16th of November. The children are only allowed to play for 1 hour any time between 7:30a.m and 7:30p.m. so come on St Simon’s let’s get times table rocking.
Reminder School Office opening hours
This is just a quick reminder that our school office opening hours are from 9:00a.m. once the children have all entered the school safely and from 2:30p.m in the afternoon.
With best wishes
