Weekly News 16th September 2022
Dear Parents and Carers
Gracious God,
We give thanks for the life of your servant Queen Elizabeth,
For her faith and her dedication to duty.
Bless the nation as we mourn her death and may her example continue to inspire us;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
School closed Monday 19th September
I am sure many of you have been watching the funeral preparations for the late Queen Elizabeth. As a sign of respect for the Queen and to give everyone the opportunity to participate in such a momentous occasion the school will be closed for everyone on Monday.
Well done our new Reception Class
Congratulations to our new Year R class as they have now all completed their first full week at school. There have been a few tears in the morning but the children are settling very well into their first days in “Big School”.
“Meet and Greets”
It was good to see such a good turnout at our “Meet and Greets” this week. it is very important to establish close partnerships between school and parents and carers as we all work together for the good of the children. A big thank you to all who attended.
Work with Artist Rob Turner
The children in all year groups with the exception of Year R have worked with artist Rob Turner developing ideas for a school mural which will reflect the cultural diversity of the school and celebrate the 50 years that we have been open.
Rob will now take away the children’s ideas and sketch up a proposal for the mural which he will then present to the school before he then begins the painting. Let us all hope and pray for dry weather for when he starts!
Victoria Park Project
Year 5 will be taking part in a project based on Victoria Park. They will be participating in three workshops with another artist Becky Vincer to help produce an educational resource for schools to use when visiting the park.
Workshops will run on the following days: Thursday 22nd, Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th September. This is an exciting project for the children to work on and I am sure that they will learn a great deal from the experience.
Beginning of Term Mass
On Friday 23 September at 9:30a.m we will be celebrating our beginning of term Mass at St Simon’s Church. As with all our liturgies everyone is very welcome to join us.
With best wishes
Peter McCabe
