Weekly News 17th December 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

A silent night, a star above, a blessed gift of hope and love. A Merry Christmas to you and your whole family!

We are at the end of a very busy and a very long term. The children as the term has gone on have got more and more excited with the build-up to Christmas with the Nativity Plays, Christmas Fair, Carol Singing on the playground and their Christmas Parties etc. Everyone now deserves a well-earned rest and a chance to refresh and renew.

The Christmas Fair was a great success we raised £1360.05 well done to everyone who helped the children with their fund raising. We are very fortunate to have such generous parents and carers.

Many thanks to all the parents who supported the children in their Carol Singing on the playground on Thursday. The children enjoyed the opportunity to perform in front of an audience as they weren’t able to sing Carols at the County Square Shopping Centre.

Today the Children in Key stage 2 celebrated their End of Term Mass with Father Hans at St Simon’s Church. This was a lovely celebration the children sang Christmas carols to support the Mass, it really was a very festive occasion and had a real Christmassy feel.

Many thanks to Ms Wall and our Catering team for preparing a magnificent Christmas dinner for all the pupils and the staff.

We as a school continue to monitor advice given by government and we regularly review our risk assessment and outbreak management plans so that we can quickly put into action measures and controls to help keep everyone safe. We always keep parents and carers fully informed of any new measures or restrictions.

At present we plan for a full reopening of the school for children on Wednesday 5th January let us all hope and pray that this will be possible and that the Government vaccination programme helps keep us all safe.

Today we said goodbye to Mrs Christie one of our dinner supervisors. Mrs Christie has decided after over 20 years of serving the children of St Simon’s that now is the time she has a little rest. We thank Mrs Christie for all her hard work she will be missed by all of us.

We also said goodbye to Michaela in Year 4 as she moves onto her new school. We wish Michaela and Mrs Christie the very best of luck and will keep them both in our thoughts and prayers.

May I take this opportunity on behalf of all the staff to thank parents for their kind thoughts, wishes and Christmas presents.

I look forward to seeing you all in January and wish you all a very happy and holy Christmas.

The light of the Christmas star to you,

The warmth of home and hearth to you,

The cheer and goodwill of friends to you,

The hope of a childlike heart to you,

The joy of a thousand angels to you,

The love of The Son and God’s peace to you.
