Dear Parents and Carers

“And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of those who make peace.” James 3:18

Congratulations to Year 3 who led our Harvest Festival when we say thank you to God for all the gifts he has given us while at the same time thinking about those who are in need. Thanks to everyone for their kind donations of tinned and dried goods which were collected for “Vinnie’s Diner”.

Well done to Josef and Filip in Year 6 who represented the school by reading the bidding prayers at the KCSP Mass of Thanksgiving on Tuesday. The boys were a credit to the school and weren’t fazed by such a big occasion.

Children from our Key Stage 2 Choir are invited to support the singing at the Silver Anniversary of the consecration of St Simon’s Church on Sunday 31st October at 10:00p.m. It would be lovely to see as many pupils as possible for such an important occasion for the church and the school.

Children in Year 6 and Year 4 took part in bikeability training this week. Fortunately the weather was kind to them. Thank you to Spencer and his team at CycleCircle for organising this for the pupils.

This week the children in Year 6 who took the Kent Test will have received their results. I always find this very difficult as their will be children and parents who will be very pleased with the result of the tests while there will be children and their parents who will also be very disappointed. I think that it is important that we as adults bear this in mind and celebrate the effort and hard work of all the children no matter the result as all the children gave their very best.

Congratulations to Matas and George in Year 6 for their mini business enterprise. They raised £182 and will be donating most of their profits to the Pilgrims Hospice. Well done to the boys and the other children who helped them with their business enterprise.

On Friday 5th November Parents and Carers should receive their first report on how their children are doing in school. The report will only be a snapshot of how the children are doing. To enable parents and carers to find discuss the children’s reports and progress in more detail we are holding our first face to face parents evenings on Tuesday 9th November and Thursday 11th November.

Parents will be given the opportunity to sign up for an appointment from Tuesday 2nd November in the school hall just before and after school day. We

The weather is now getting much colder and wetter all children need to come to school with a suitable coat.

We are now reintroducing “Welly Day” when children who bring in a pair of wellies will be able to play on our school field as it is now just too muddy to go on this without. If you wish your child to take part in “Welly Day” please send them in with a pair of clearly named welly boots.

Next week is half term the children are expected to return to school on Monday 1st November. I wish everyone a restful half term.

Best wishes

Peter McCabe
