Weekly News 3 September 2021

3rd September 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to the new academic year. It was good to see the children return to school on Thursday this week and to hear all their news and what they got up to during the summer holidays. I hope everyone managed to get some rest and relaxation.

We are also looking forward to next week when our new reception children will be joining us for their first day at “Big School”.

We are now able to open up the school more following government guidance but we have kept some of our systems in place as they were an improvement on what we did in the time before COVID 19.

Full details of all our plans for wider reopening and our “COVID Outbreak Plan” should this need to be put into place can be found here on our school website:

Meet and Greet

Next week we are holding our “Meet and Greets” on the following days for parents:

Monday 6th September                 Year 6 and Year 2

Tuesday 7th September                 Year 5 and Year 1

Thursday 9th September                Year 3 and Year 4

Our “Meet and Greets” have been very popular they start at 3:30 and last around 20 minutes. They are an excellent opportunity for you to meet the class teachers and for the class teachers to share information that will be useful to you and your child during this academic year.

Year 5 Trip to Kent Police Open Day

Year 5 are visiting the Kent Police Open Day on Monday 6th September. This will be the first school outing of the academic year and is the first of a number of visits which we are planning now that we are now able to do so.

Year 6 Kent Test

Some of our Year 6 will be sitting the Kent Test on Thursday 9th September. The children will have a very busy day as they will have to sit three tests- English, Maths and reasoning followed by a 40 minutes writing activity.

The children will sit the tests in our school hall and we ask that all children should be in school for 8:30a.m so that we can get the process started promptly.

  • School uniform: All children are expected to wear full school uniform which can be ordered from our online supplier this usually needs to be ordered in advance of when you need this. We do have some limited stock available in the school office which is open from 2:30-3:00p.m
  • School Meals: Children in Years R, 1 and 2 are all entitled to a free school provided meal. Children in all other Year groups (unless they are on benefits related free school meals) must pay in advance for meals using their Parent Pay account. Meals now cost £2.35 per day or £11.75 per week
  • Afterschool Club: Our afterschool club runs daily from 3:15-4;30p.m. daily and costs £4:00 per session. We used to run a breakfast club from 8:00a.m but haven’t had enough interest to make this viable. If you are interested in breakfast club please let the school office know because we are keen to run this again should we get enough pupils interested.

With best wishes
