Dear Parents and Carers
Year 6 at KCSP Mass
Our Year 6 class represented St Simon’s at a celebratory Mass at Aylesford Priory bringing together all the schools in our multi-academy trust the Kent Catholic Schools Partnership (KCSP). This was a great occasion all the schools gathering together at to give thanks for all the achievements over the past academic year while looking towards this academic year.
The children were a great credit to the school with their excellent behaviour. Well done Year 6.
Congratulations Mrs Kirwan
Well done to Mrs Kirwan who has received an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Francis for all the work she has done in St Teresa’s Parish on the Ukrainian Appeal.
We presented the award to Mrs Kirwan in assembly today. Congratulations Mrs Kirwan.
Year 3 and 4 to Visit Otterden Estate
Year 3 and 4 will be visiting Otterden Estate on Tuesday 4th October to take part in one of Otterden Estate’s “Estate Days” when they will learn how the estate is managed and about the different trees, plants and animals that can be found there.
Children will need to wear appropriate footwear for walking about the woods and they will need a waterproof/warm coat.
Many parents have been complaining about the school uniform supplier the main complaint being the length of time it takes for an order to arrive.
With the help from some of our new Year R parents we have been able to secure another supplier for our uniform: “County Print and Embroidery” which are a local Ashford retailer.
County Print and Embroidery will be able to meet all our uniform needs but will have the added advantage that parents will not have to wait for items to arrive and you will be able to try out items for size etc.
We have informed Brigade our last supplier of our decision and they have assured us that they will still honour orders already placed with them. Thank you to our new Year R Parents.
Early Reading Meeting Parents in EYFS and Years 1 and 2
On Thursday 6th October at 2:30p.m in the school hall we are holding an information meeting on how we are delivering early reading to children in Reception and Years 1and 2. This is a very important meeting to introduce parents and carers to our new reading programme “Little Wandle” which is a little different to the way we have done things in the past. I encourage as many of you as possible to attend.
Online Safety Newsletter
Our latest online safety newsletter is now available on the “Latest News” tab on our website. This month the newsletter contains some excellent advice to parents on the use of social media sites.
After school Club
We have increasing numbers of children joining our after school club and some evenings are more popular than others. To help us to plan for the children if possible can parents complete an after school club form to book places in advance.
We don’t turn people away from the club but the staff wish to be able to plan activities for the children in advance and having additional numbers can affect what they can do with the group.
St Simon's Job Centre
We have appointed our new St Simon's Job Centre CEO who is Oliwia in Year 6.
The Job Centre administrators and finance officers are now in place and the other positions will be filled early next week.
I am sure that the children will do a magnificent job when they are in post.
