Weekly News 6th May 2022
Dear Parents and Carers
“Life is a gift from God. The voice of Jesus is unmistakable! He guides us along the path of life.”
This week we enter the month of May which the Church sets aside for honouring Mary the Mother of Jesus. Year R led the whole school in our Crowning of Mary Liturgy.
It was excellent to see how much our youngest children have matured and grown in confidence since they joined the school in September. Well done Year R.
Year 2 and Year 6 S.A.T.S
Year 6 will be completing their end of Key Stage Statutory Assessment Tasks (S.A.T.S) next week. The children have been very well prepared and are ready to complete these.
Please can parents do their bit in giving the children lots of praise and encouragement during this week and make sure that the children have a good bedtime routine and plenty of rest.
During the month of May Year 2 will be completing their end of Key Stage assessments and like our Year 6 they are well prepared for this in fact the children in Year 2 probably won’t notice a great deal of difference to their normal school routine.
If parents have any concerns over this process please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
On the children’s class pages on our website in addition to the usual Curriculum Overview, Chilli-Challenge Homework and Wednesday Word you will find curriculum “Knowledge Organisers” for Art and History or Geography.
The knowledge organisers are designed to help the children with their learning and to help you as parents and carers to support your children.
We do hope that you and the children find these useful and we will be seeking your views and opinions on these in the very near future.
50th Anniversary Events
We have many plans in place for our 50th Anniversary Celebrations.

There are other events that the children will be working on:
Year 3 will be working on The Cardboard Orchestra Proms.
The children will be working with an artist to produce musical instruments out of cardboard and other scrap materials. They will then work with a professional classical musician to perform a mime playing their musical instruments in an orchestra.
They will later join other Ashford Schools to come together to perform this on Friday 10th June in a venue in Ashford. (details still to be confirmed) This will form part of Ashford’s Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.
Year 4 and 5 will be decorating a cardboard tree that will be one of many such trees to form a tree trail around various places in Ashford which is also part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Very exciting times for all the children.
With best wishes
