Weekly News Friday 1st December

Dear Parents and Carers

“The Lord is coming. May we await him with open hearts!” Pope Francis

This Sunday we begin to celebrate the season of Advent, a time of waiting and prayer. It’s a special time to pause and reflect on the real reason and true meaning of Christmas and give thanks to God for the gift of Jesus to the world.

Advent Liturgy

On Wednesday 6th December at 9:00a.m. children in our school Liturgy Group will lead the whole school in our Advent Liturgy. In the Advent Liturgy they will remind us of the meaning of Advent and how we should prepare for the birth of Jesus at Christmas. As with all our Assemblies and acts of collective worship parents and carers are invited to join us in the prayer life of our school.

Welcome Fr Jose

This week we welcomed Fr Jose to the school when he celebrated Mass for Year 5 in their classroom. Fr Jose also visited some of the other classes to say hello to the children. Unfortunately, he couldn’t visit Year 1 and Year 2 as they were out on their visit to the cinema.

Fr Jose will meet all the children before the end of term.

Christmas Fair

Our Christmas Fair is on Friday 8th December at 2:00p.m. Many thanks for all the donations to date especially for all the bottles this week. Next Friday we are looking for donations of cakes for our cake stall. Most importantly we need you to turn up and support the fair. All money raised will go towards funding all the little extras that the children can participate in e.g. Year 1 and 2 trip to the cinema this week.

Year R and Year 6 Weights and Measures

The school nursing team are returning to school on Wednesday 6th December as part of the National Child Measurement Programme and will be measuring our Year R and Year 6 children.

Football

Last Friday our B team played a match against St Teresa’s B team. Unfortunately, we lost 1-0. We were the strongest team and we had most of the possession of the ball but we just couldn’t manage to score. We are very proud of how the children played and I must congratulate both teams for their great sportsmanship.
