Weekly News Friday 22 November 2024

Dear Parents and Carers

“When Jesus dwells in us as our friend and leader, we can bear all things.” St Teresa of Avila

This week we welcomed two visitors for our Catholic School’s Inspection. Thank you to everyone who completed the online questionnaire and to those parents who spoke to the inspectors in person.

We now need to wait for the publication of the final report of which you will all receive a copy.

I cannot at this time share any of the possible outcomes of the inspection I am however very proud of the children and the staff of the school for all their hard work.

We know St Simon’s is a very special place and I am sure that this will be reflected in the final report.

Bikeability

This is a reminder that Bikeability training will be taking place next week for EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Years 5 and 6. The children in Year 4 who have signed up for bikeability will need to bring in their bikes and cycling helmet on Monday. Year 6 will need to bring their bikes to school on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of next week. This is subject to change.

Year 5 Class Mass

On Wednesday 27th November Fr Jose will be celebrating Mass with Year 5 in their classroom at 9:30 a.m parents and carers are welcome to attend.

Year R Bible Blessing

On Friday 29th November at 11:00 a.m. Year R will be attending a “Bible Blessing”. Fr Jose will welcome the children into the church and will bless a set of bibles one of which will then be presented to each child. Parents and carers are most welcome to attend.

Christmas Fair

Our Christmas Fair is on Friday 13th December. Many thanks to everyone who donated stationery sets for Father Christmas’ sack.

Next Friday we are holding another non-uniform day in return for items for our colour raffle. This a very simple idea- if your child is in the red team you provide something that is red e.g. Ready Salted Pringles- Green team something green e.g. aero mint chocolate- Yellow team something yellow a large bag of quavers etc. the more imagination you can show the better. The items of the same colour are then put together to make up raffle prizes at the fair.

Reminders

Dogs are not allowed on the school site. The school site is also a non-smoking and vaping area.

Wishing everyone a good week.
