Weekly News Friday 24th February
Dear Parents and Carers
“God, may Your light guide my day, and your spirit bring me peace. Amen.”
The children in Key Stage 2 attended Mass in the church on Wednesday this week to celebrate Ash Wednesday and the children in Reception and Key stage 1 led a Lenten liturgy in the school hall to mark the first day of Lent the season when we prepare for the coming of Easter.
Many thanks to the parents and carers who joined us at both these liturgies.
Fund Raising
During Lent the children raise money for charity. Their first event “Crazy Hair Day” to raise money for Water Aid was held on Friday. There was certainly a full spectrum of coloured hair and crazy styles. Well done children and well-done parents for entering into the spirit of the occasion.
Next Friday 3rd March we are holding a sponsored walk for CAFOD. Your children should have received a sponsored form to collect their sponsors. If your child hasn’t received their form these can be obtained through the school office.
World Book Day
Thursday 2nd March is World Book Day and the children are invited to come into school wearing their pyjamas and bring in a favourite book to share and to help promote the enjoyment of reading.
Star Gazing Event
On Tuesday 28th February from 6:30- 8:00p.m Year 5 and their primary aged siblings are invited to join Mr Tom Holloway from The Primary Science Teaching Trust for a star gazing evening. This is an excellent opportunity for the children. Parents and Carers of Year 5 are welcome to join us for this event.
Parents Evenings
Our next Parent Evenings are being held on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th March from 3:30-6:00p.m. Parents are able to book an appointment on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week in the school hall at drop off and pick up times.
On Friday 3rd March you should receive a copy of your child’s latest report which will be the basis for discussion at parents evening.
With Best Wishes
Peter McCabe
