Weekly News Friday 26 November

Dear Parents and Carers

This Sunday sees the start of the season of Advent it is an opportunity for spiritual refreshment allowing us to get ready for Christmas.

Our Key Stage 2 Liturgy Group will be leading the school in our Advent Liturgy for Key Stage 2 on Wednesday 1st December at 2:00p.m and for Key Stage 1 on Thursday 2nd December at 9:10a.m.

The children are getting into their preparations for the season. Key Stage 1 and Reception are preparing for their Nativity Performance on Tuesday 7th December at 2:00p.m and on Thursday 9th December at 9:30a.m.

Unfortunately, this year we have had to restrict numbers due to COVID restrictions and entry will be by ticket only. Each child has been allocated two tickets one for each performance and parents and carers are asked to return any tickets they may not need so that these can be reallocated fairly to those who have requested additional tickets.

This decision hasn’t been taken lightly and we realise that many will be disappointed but it was this or possibly no performance at all so we hope that you all understand and respect our position to try and keep all as safe as possible.

Key Stage 2 are also preparing for Carol Singing at County Square on Thursday 9th December at 2:00p.m we would like as many parents and carers to come along and support us. We have plans for a Key Stage 2 Carol Service in the Church on Thursday 16th December at 2:00p.m. to which parents are also invited.

Our Christmas Fair is on Friday 10th December at 2:00p.m.

We have a change to our advertised non-school uniform days they are now as follows:

Friday 3rd December       Bottles for our Bottle Stall (Nice bottles parents would like to drink)

Friday 10th December     Cakes for our Cake stall

Many thanks for the kind donations of stationery sets for today's non-school uniform.

School Christmas dinner is on Wednesday 15th December please remember to book this before 1st December if your child is in Key Stage 2 and make sure you pay in advance through your “Parent Pay” account. If your child is in Year R or Key Stage 1 and they do not wish to have a school Christmas dinner please remember to opt out of this.

This week our school football team played their first match for nearly two years and I am pleased to inform you that we won 3-2 against Kennington Juniors. Well done St Simon’s.

On Tuesday 30th November at 4:15p.m Year 5 and their parents will have the opportunity to attend the Film Premiere of their performance of Hamlet in The Children’s Shakespeare Film Festival.

The children filmed and produced their own version of Shakespeare’s play.

Once the Premiere is over I am sure that we will be able to share the link to the film so that all can be amazed at their acting talents. Well done Year 5!

Next week we will be launching our new look website which should make life a little easier when navigating and finding information.

Well done to everyone we raised £202.05 for Children in Need.
