Weekly News Friday 26th January

Dear Parents and Carers

“I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.” Psalms 17:6

Prayer Life of the School

Parents are always invited to all our events such as our Nativity Performances, Carol Service, Passion Reflection etc. as well as all our Masses and other services. These make up some of the Prayer Life of the school.

The children always pray for their own intentions during all our collective worship and assemblies. If you would like the school to pray for any intentions please post your prayer requests in the prayer box outside the school office or contact me directly by email peter.mccabe@st-simons-ashford.kcsp.org.uk or via the school office.

Choir At Mass on Sunday

Thank you to all the children and their families who attended 10:00a.m Mass last Sunday to support with the singing. The children do help to make the celebration that little bit more special. The parishioners often comment on how much they enjoy hearing the children sing.

Music Week

Mrs Withey-Harrison has plans well underway for our Music Week beginning Monday 5th February. There are lots of musical activities being planned. The week will conclude with a Music Concert on Friday 9th February at 2:00p.m in the school hall where all classes and our musicians will perform for the enjoyment of the whole school. Parents and Carers are all invited however be prepared it may be a bit of a squash and a squeeze to get everyone in.

Lock Down Drill

Our Lock Down Drill was a success. The children weren’t worried by the drill in fact I think most of the classes seemed to feel like it was a bit of a game of hide and seek! These drills are necessary so that should we have a real event the children and adults will know what to do. They also serve as a check to see that our procedures work. Next week we will be carrying out a fire drill.

Data Collection Sheets

Many thanks to everyone who has already checked and returned the Data Collection Sheets. These are very important to us as they enable us to be able to contact you in the event of an emergency or in the event of severe weather or if your child is ill etc. If you haven’t returned your data collection sheet please can you do this as soon as possible.

With best wishes

Peter McCabe
