Welcome back to the beginning of a new term. Next Wednesday the 5th March is Ash Wednesday the beginning of Lent the season which leads us up to Easter the most important event in the Liturgical Year.
Lent is a time which gives us the opportunity to “Spring Clean” our lives in preparation for when Jesus will return again.
The children in Key Stage 2 will have the opportunity to attend Mass with the parish at 9:30a.m on Wednesday 5th March.
Reception and Key Stage 1 will attend a Lenten Liturgy at 2:00p.m on Wednesday afternoon.
As with all our liturgies parents and carers are very welcome to join us.
Changes to the School Dinner Menu Next Week
Monday will be Roast Dinner Day as Ash Wednesday is traditionally a day for abstaining from eating meat.
Tuesday is Pancake Day the children will be able to enjoy pancakes with different toppings
Wednesday Chilli no Carne, Cheese Pizza, Tomato Pasta or Jacket Potato
Thursday World Book Day Toad in the Hole with pork sausage or vegan sausage
Friday No change to the normal choice of Fish and Chips etc.
Lenten Fundraising
During Lent the school raises funds for charity and the school council have decided to hold the following events on during Lent:
Friday 7th March Crazy Hair Day
Friday 14th March Sponsored Walk
Friday 21st March Dress in Red
Friday 28th March Year 6 Activity Afternoon
Friday 4th April Easter Egg Raffle
On Monday 3rd March the children will be able to vote for the charities we wish to raise funds for.

World Book Day
World book day this year is on Thursday 6th March. The children are asked to “dress” a potato as their favourite book character. There will be a prize for the best “dressed” potato character in each class. In school they will have the opportunity to design a book cover for their favourite book.
Parents Evening
We will be holding our next parent evenings on Tuesday 18th and Thursday 20th March with appointments available on each evening 3:30p.m until 6:00p.m.
Phonics Briefing
On Wednesday 12th March at 2:30p.m we are holding a Phonics Briefing for parents and carers of children in Reception Class and Key Stage 1
This is an opportunity for parents to find out about how the school teaches early reading and how parents can help support children with learning to read at home.
Year 6 Secondary School Offer Day
On Monday 3rd March Year 6 parents and carers will receive offer for their child’s secondary school for September. If any parent or carer needs advice on this process please don’t hesitate to contact me.
After-school and Breakfast Club
This is another reminder to parents who wish to use our Breakfast and After-school Clubs these must be booked in advance using the booking forms available on the school website or the school office.
We can no longer accept children who have not booked.
