Weekly News Friday 6th October
Dear Parents and Carers
“Let the message of Christ live in you.” St Paul
Harvest Festival
On Friday 13th October at 2:30p.m. Year 3 will lead the school in our Harvest Festival. This is when we thank God for the gifts he has given us at the same time remembering those who aren’t as fortunate as we are.
We are asking for donations of tinned and dried goods to form a Harvest Display in our school hall. The donated goods will then be given to “Vinnie’s Diner” who prepare meals and food parcels for those in need in the Ashford area.
Year 5 Local Visit
As part of Year 5’s Geography curriculum Year 5 are going on a visit to the local environment to carry out a river study etc on Tuesday 10th October. The children are expected to wear full school uniform with an appropriate coat and footwear for the predicted weather conditions.

On Tuesday 10th October some of our Year 4 pupils will be representing the school in a Multi-skills event. The children will travel to the event by minibus and will return to school in time for lunch. This will be our first sporting event of the new academic year and I am sure that our Year 4 team will do their very best.
Times Tables Rock Stars
Year 4 have been set a challenge to take part in a “Top of the Rocks” time tables competition on Times Tables Rock Stars. The competition runs from the 9th October until the 18th October and the children will be competing against pupils from our hub of KCSP schools. Come on Year 4!!!
Barbie and Ken Sponsored Walk
Well done to all the children for taking part in our Sponsored Walk today. The children had a great time while at the same time raising money for our School Council. If parents and carers could begin to send in the sponsor money that would be greatly appreciated. I will let everyone know how much money is raised once all the funds have been collected. Thank you to everyone for supporting the children.
Early Reading/Phonics Meeting
On Wednesday 18th October at 2:00p.m we are holding an Early Reading/Phonics Awareness Meeting for parents of children in Reception and Key Stage 1.
We use the “Little Wandle Letters and Sounds” phonics programme this meeting is being held to give parents and carers information on the programme and how they can help their children with early reading and phonics at home. We hope that as many people as possible can attend.
Electric Scooters!
I have received a complaint that one of our pupils has been riding an electric scooter on the path in the school grounds.
Perhaps this is a good time to remind parents that it is currently illegal to ride an electric scooter on public pathways and private land unless you have the landowner’s permission.
Nobody has permission to ride electric scooters on school grounds so for the safety of everyone can we all make sure we follow the rules.
With best wishes
Peter McCabe
