Dear Parents and Carers
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
Welcome back to the beginning of a new academic year I hope that everyone was able to take some time for relaxation and are now feeling renewed, refreshed and ready for the new term.
It was good to welcome into school our new Year R children we have also got new pupils in other year groups: Mary in Year 1 and Evaan in year 4.
We also welcomed Miss Freeman who begins her teaching career in Year 6 I am sure that everyone will do their very best to help all our new starters feel very welcome to the St Simon’s School Family.

Next week we are holding our annual “Meet and Greets” which give parents the opportunity to meet their children’s new teacher and find out a little more information about the up and coming term. The meetings start at 3:30p.m and should take no longer than 30- 40 minutes.
We are holding these on the following evenings:

Thurs 12th September Year 1 and Year 6
We hope that as many parents and carers as possible will be able to attend.
Year 6 Kent Test
On Thursday 12th September some of our Year 6 pupils will be taking part in the Kent Test which is part of the selection process for secondary school.
This will be a very busy day for those pupils taking part and we aim to get the testing process off to a prompt start at 9:00a.m so please can all parents and carers of the children make sure that the children are in school on time.
Beginning of Term Mass
On Friday 13th September at 9:30a.m we are holding our beginning of term Mass at St Simon’s Church. The whole school with the exception of our new Year R class will gather together to celebrate the beginning of the new school Year.
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Kirk
I am sure that you will join me in congratulating Miss Wall our school cook who got married during the summer break. She is now known as Mrs Kirk. I hope that the new Mr and Mrs Kirk will have many happy years together.
School Dinner Price increase
School dinners have now increased in price to £2.95 per meal and that children who are not entitled to a free school meal must ensure that their Parent Pay Accounts are in credit.
Appointments to Speak to Class Teachers
Class teachers are always very willing to meet with parents and discuss concerns, worries etc. If you wish to make an appointment to speak to a class teacher about your child please can all parents make appointments via the school office.
If you just wish to pass on a quick message this can be done at the end of the day once all the other children are safely dismissed.
Parents need to understand that teachers often have to attend training or other meetings after-school and may not always be available at the end of the school day.
With best wishes for the new academic year
