Weekly News Friday 8th December

Dear Parents and Carers

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for the hope you bring to our lives.

Please help us to bring hope to others as we journey through Advent.

Amen.

Christmas Fair

It was good to see so many parents and carers turning up to support our Christmas Fair. It was a real whole school family occasion and although it was a little cold everyone had a good time while at the same time raising extra money for the school.

I must thank everyone for their kind donations for our stalls and raffle prizes. My gratitude on behalf of all the children to the volunteers that gave up their time to wrap Christmas presents label bottles for the bottle stall etc. Your time and hard work are greatly appreciated. I must not forget to thank Father Christmas for taking the time out of his busy schedule to visit the school. I hope all the children will remember to be good for when he returns to visit all girls and boys on Christmas Eve.

Advent Liturgy

Well done to the children in our Liturgy group for planning and leading our Advent Liturgy on Wednesday. The children reminded us that Advent is a time for preparation for Christmas. It was good to welcome Fr Jose who joined the children for our first whole school liturgy.

KS2 Reconciliation

Fr Jose will return to the school on Tuesday to offer our Catholic children the opportunity to take part in the sacrament of reconciliation. Our non-Catholic children have the opportunity to visit Fr Jose for some pastoral support if they so wish.

Celebration Assembly

On Monday 11th December at 8:55a.m we are holding a celebration assembly when we will present the children with any awards and certificates that they have been given outside of school. This gives the whole school the opportunity to celebrate the gifts and talents that the children have. As with all our assemblies and liturgies parents are most welcome to join us.

KS2 Carol Service

On Tuesday 12th December at 6:00p.m we are holding our Key Stage 2 Carol Service. This will be a real Christmas Event when all of Key Stage 2 classes will celebrate the season with the singing of Carols. The children have been working very hard on this. We need as many children as possible to commit to joining us and make this a truly special occasion.

Nativity Performances

Reception Class and Key Stage 1 will be performing their Nativity on Wednesday 13th December at 9:30 a.m. and on Thursday 13th December at 2:00 p.m. Both performances are normally very busy so if parents and carers could try and attend only one performance as we cannot guarantee that we will have space/seats for everyone.

School Christmas Dinner

Wednesday 13th December is school Christmas Dinner Day the children are very welcome to wear their Christmas jumpers on this day instead of their school sweatshirt or cardigan.

We have a special request from our Reception staff please can all jumpers and sweatshirts be labelled with your child’s name.

End of Term Mass

On Friday 14th December at 9:30a.m we are celebrating our End of Term Mass in the Church. All our welcome to attend.

Christmas Party Time

On Friday 14th the children will be able to take part in their Christmas Party. They are asked to bring in their own plate of party food to eat. The school will provide the drinks. The children always have a great time joining in party games and singing of Christmas Carols etc.

With best wishes

Peter McCabe
