Weekly News Friday 8th November

Dear Parents and Carers

“Life is a precious gift, but we realise this only when we give it to others.” Pope Francis

This week I was extremely proud of our school choir who led the singing alongside children from St Teresa’s at the Diocesan Headteachers Conference.

The children sang so well that Arch Bishop John asked the children to do an encore by singing the psalm again. The children were very enthusiastic to do this and for the encore they went one better by adding actions to go along with their singing. Well done children and well done to our staff for accompanying the children.

School Christmas Fair

We have set a date for our school Christmas Fair which is Friday 13th December. Once again we are hoping to hold this event outdoors on the KS1 playground (weather permitting). We will need lots of help to prepare and run the fair so if you think you could help please pass your name onto a member of staff. “Many hands make light work!”

Times Tables Rock Stars England Rocks

On Tuesday 12th until Thursday 14th November the children are invited to take part in a national Times Tables Rock Stars competition where they can compete against schools from all over England. It would be good to see how well we compare with schools across England. Come on St Simon’s!

Welcome Back Mrs Williams

This week we welcomed back Mrs Williams who will be teaching in Year 5 on two days of the week. Mrs Williams worked in the school before and we feel very fortunate to have her back with us again. I am sure everyone will make Mrs Williams feel very welcome.

With best wishes
