Weekly News Friday 8th September

Dear Parents and Carers

It was good to welcome the children back to school on Monday. It is a joy to see the children well turned out in their school uniforms with smiling excited faces as they look forward to seeing their friends again after the summer holiday.

I hope everyone managed to get the chance of some rest and relaxation even if the weather during the summer in this country was a little changeable.

Welcome to our New Reception Class

Our new reception class have begun their induction into the school with school visits with their parents and carers and some morning and afternoon sessions in the classroom. Most of the children will be full time from Monday 11th September.

Welcome to our New Teachers and Pupils

A big welcome to Miss Cole who is our new reception teacher and Ms Adam who has joined us in Year 3. We also welcome Osfiemuwuro (Gerry) to Year 3.

Goodbye Tiffany

This week we said goodbye to Tiffany in Year 3 as she goes off to join a new school. I wish Tiffany the very best of luck and we will of course remember her in our prayers.

A great big thank you

On behalf of the school I wish to thank Freddie in Year 1 and Charlie Year R’s dad for giving up his time to totally redecorate our Year R classroom and toilet area over the summer holiday. He has done a fantastic job and we can’t thank him enough. Well done that man!

Well done to our Year 6

Some of our Year 6 children had a very busy day on Thursday as they sat their Kent Test. This is always a very tiring day for the pupils taking part in the test but this year it was more challenging due to the very hot weather. I must congratulate the children on their great resilience and determination to do well they all gave their very best. Well done children!

 “Meet and Greets”

At the beginning of each school year we hold “Meet and Greets” this is an opportunity for parents to visit their children’s new classroom meet their teacher and find out about the new academic year. The Meet and Greets run from 3:30-4:00p.m on the days listed below for classes:

Monday 11th September               Year 6 and Year 2

Tuesday 12th September               Year 4 and Year 5

Thursday 14th September             Year 1 and Year 3

New Teaching Assistant Needed

We are presently seeking to appoint a new teaching assistant to the school so if you are interested in this position you can find full details of the position by logging onto: https://www.kent-teach.com/Recruitment/Vacancy/VacancyDetails.aspx?VacancyId=122323 or contact me via email or through the school office.

School Governor Vacancy

We also have a vacancy for a school governor. This is a voluntary position but is also a very rewarding. Governors have a very important role in acting as a critical friend to the school leadership team at the same time helping with the strategic development of the school. If you are possibly interested in becoming a governor at the school, please speak to me to find out more.

Time Keeping

We have had a number of children turning up late in the morning so I feel I need to remind everyone that the children are expected to be in school by 8:40a.m when our registers open.

With best wishes

Peter McCabe
