Dear Parents and Carers
“When we live humbly, God takes our small efforts and creates great things.” Pope Francis
Year 4 at Benenden School
On Thursday Year 4 visited Benenden school to watch a “Kidensa Music Concert”. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They were very well looked after by staff at Benenden school and I thank Benenden School on behalf of our Year 4 children.
Pupils Singing on Sunday
The children have been invited to join St Simon’s Parish to support the singing at the 10:00a.m. Sunday Mass on the 16th October. The children of St Simon’s sing beautifully at all our school Masses so we would like as many children as possible to join the Parish on Sunday to share their gift of music.
Year 3 will be leading us in our Harvest Festival on Friday 21st October in the school hall at 2:30p.m. Harvest Festival is when we say thank you to God for all the gifts he has given us while we also remember those who are less fortunate than us.
We are looking for donations of tinned and dried foods for our “Harvest Display” which will later be given to Vinnie’s Diner which provides hot meals for the homeless and rough sleepers in the Ashford area. Please can all give generously towards this very worthwhile cause.
Bikeability Year 4 and Year 6
The Cycle Circle team are returning on Monday 17th October to deliver Bikeability training to Year 6 and Year 4 on Thursday 20th October. The children who have signed up for this will need a roadworthy bike and a cycle helmet. Let’s hope that the weather is good next week!
The school photographer will be returning to school on Tuesday the 8th November to take individual photographs. Before school starts there is the opportunity to have individual photographs of preschool children. Time will be confirmed closer to the date.
New Early Reading Programme
Information regarding our new early reading programme “Little Wandle Letters and Sounds” can be found on our school website on the children’s class pages and on the Home Learning tab
Times Tables Rockstars
We have a “Battle of the Bands” competition running across the school and sadly the boys are well behind the girls at the moment. Come on boys you need to boost your performance!
We have two parent evenings planned for Tuesday 8th November and Thursday 10th November appointments will be available from 3:30p.m. until 6:00p.m.
More details of when and how to book an appointment to follow closer to the date.
Communicating with Parents
We as a school staff are always very pleased to speak to parents about any concerns that they may have with regard to their children. We will always do our very best to resolve any concerns or problems as soon as possible.
We do however have some protocols that we ask everyone to follow when bringing a concern to a class teacher.
- Class teachers are available at the end of the school day for a quick conversation however parents need to wait outside the classroom door while teachers dismiss the rest of the class
- If parents wish to have a longer more detailed conversation an appointment should be made by contacting the school office
- We expect everyone to show respect and courtesy towards one another which is in line with our School’s “Five Caring Cs” any aggressive behaviour towards a member of staff or other parents cannot be tolerated.
With best wishes
