Dear Parents and Carers

It is hard to believe that today is the last day of the academic year. None of us could have predicted that the year would end up like this. When we went into “lock down” in March everyone at school thought that it would be only be for a few weeks and yet here we are now planning and preparing for the opening for all year groups on 7 September.

I would like to thank all parents and carers for the huge efforts over the last weeks in supporting and helping the children to engage with their home learning. This has been an excellent example of school and home fostering a greater partnership to help the children with their learning. This is something that we will be seeking to continue in the future.

Unfortunately things are still not back to normal and I would like to draw your attention once again to our plan for reopening in September which can be found here:

Parents and carers will have to pay particular attention to arrangements for drop off and pick up times as these are major changes and need full compliance from everyone to enable us to reopen safely.

Children are also asked not to bring items in from home- lunchboxes, drinks bottles and P.E kits are of course allowed.

The school office will remain closed to minimise contact and reduce the risk of the transmission of corona virus.

Let us all hope and pray that things will get back to normal as quickly as possible.

Today we said farewell to our Year 6 children in their leaver’s assembly which was held outdoors so that their parents and carers could join in the celebration.

This is always a happy occasion although often tinged with just a little sadness as we are pleased to see the children move on to secondary school but know that we will also miss them.

Today we said goodbye to Madeleine and Oscar in Year 3 as they will be starting new schools in September.

We will of course remember all of our leavers in our thoughts and prayers.

From today the “Home Learner” email address will no longer be monitored until we start back in September. The teachers will not be setting work on the class pages during the school holiday.

However please check out your child’s new class page as their new teachers have left a message for them there and I know that the teachers are very excited about getting to know their new pupils in September.

If parents have any questions or queries please refer to the school website or email me: and I will do my best to respond as quickly as I can but parents may have to be a little patient as I am supposed to be on holiday and I do need a little rest!

Can I take this opportunity on behalf of myself and everyone at the school to wish you all a restful holiday and God willing I will see you all on Monday September 7.

With best wishes

Peter McCabe
