Weekly Newsletter Friday 15th September
Dear Parents and Carers
“St Simon’s Mission is to work, learn, pray and play together to fulfil God’s unique plan for each and every one of us.”
Today our new Year R class will have completed their first full week in school. It has been a joy to get to know each of the children and their individual unique little characteristics. Yes, there have been a few tears and the children have been looking very tired towards the end of the week but I am sure that they will all soon get very used to life in “Big School”. Well done children.
Meet and Greets
It was good to see so many parents and carers at our Meet and Greets this week. These prove to be very valuable opportunities for the teachers to meet you and share key information about the year ahead. Many thanks to all who attended.
House Captain and School Council Elections
This week the children elected their House Captains and School Councillors. The House Captains for this Year are:
St Matthew: Hanoc and Delight
St Mark: Henry and Ruth
St Luke: Kascper and Bernice
St John: Lily and Alex
School Councillors for each Year Group are:
Year 1: Sylvie and Freddie, Year 2: Faith and Isobel, Year 3: Nusham and Jovia, Year 4: Annie and Adele, Year 5: Joseph and Isobel, Year 6: See House Captains
Congratulations to all who have been elected.
The first activity that our school council wish to run is a sponsored walk around the school so that they can raise funds for the St Simon’s Job Centre and other activities that the children decide on.
More details to follow after the first proper School Council meeting.
Beginning of Term Mass
Today we celebrated with our beginning of term Mass. I must congratulate the children on their excellent behaviour and singing during the celebration. We were joined in Mass by Mrs Lisa Huotari who is our new Area School Improvement Partner. She will be working with us and supporting us to make our school even better.
Goodbye Freddie Year 2
Sadly, in Mass today we said goodbye to Freddie in Year 2 as he joins his mum in the school where she works. We wish Freddie the very best of luck and will remember him in our prayers.
School Values Week
Next week is “School Values Week” a week which we set aside each year to look at our school values and school mission. The children know the importance that our school values have in helping to shape our school family as a Christian community.
If you wish to know more about our school values and vision check out our School Values page on our website: https://www.st-simon.kent.sch.uk/visions-and-values/
With best wishes
