Weekly News Friday 20th March 2026
Dear Parents and Carers
“Compassion for the suffering is the beginning of holiness.” St. Maximilian Kolbe
This week we have all been concerned with the outbreak of Meningitis which sadly has taken the lives of two young people. We should all take time to remember these young people and their families in our thoughts and prayers.
I would also like to reassure parents and carers that all the government and health officials’ advice is that it is extremely unlikely that any primary age children will be affected by this current outbreak unless they are direct contacts of someone who is infected.
This outbreak is affecting older children and young adults and is connected with a night club and hall of residence in the university in Canterbury.
It is safe for children to continue to attend school and carry out their normal activities.
Lenten Fundraising
Today the children were able to take part in a “Pyjama Day” when they could wear their pyjamas in return for a donation to Comic Relief/Red Nose Day.
We still have sponsor money arriving into school so if parents could bring this in by the end of next week that would be appreciated.
Next week tickets will go on sale for our Easter Egg Raffle donations of Easter eggs are also greatly appreciated.
On Friday 27th March Year 6 are holding an activity afternoon where the children can take part in different activities such as Football Penalty or Basketball shoot outs and many more all for a donation.
Many thanks for all the support for the children’s fundraising to date.
School Sports
This week our Year 4 Hockey Players were in action. They only lost one game and conceded only one goal in the whole Festival. Well done our team.
The football team were in action against Kennington Junior school unfortunately we lost 5-1 however the boys gave their best and were all still smiling at the end of the game. Well done boys.
Next Tuesday 24th March we have a team of Hockey players from Year 5 and 6 taking part in a Hockey Festival. Let’s hope they find inspiration from our Year 4 children and give a good performance.
