Year R
Welcome to our new Year R class!
We are so proud of how well everyone is settling in to starting school at St Simon's! Please continue to help your child to be independent by encouraging and supporting them to:
- put on and take off their own coat
- carry their belongings into school, hanging up coats and putting away book bags.
- put on and take off their own jumper/ cardigan
- use the toilet independently
Our first topic this year is "All About Me." We will be reading the stories "Simon Sock," "Elmer," and "The Enormous Turnip." We will learn about ourselves, our bodies, families and more. For more information please see our Curriculum Map and Knowledge Organisers below.
You will receive a story book in your child's book bag daily to share together at home. Please record when you have read in your child's reading record. We will start to send home Little Wandle Phonics books later on in Term 1.
Don't forget to bring your water bottle, book bag and coat to school each day. In warmer weather, please send in a sun hat. Please remember to clearly mark your child's name on all of their items.
Thank you!
